When it comes to fully understanding the religions, I am a very poor student. There is the width and breadth of the Earth to read for uncovering any full understanding on how all of the various denominations/sects are interconnected. What facets they share, which were stolen and when they were conveniently created.
As has become a base acceptance that all of religion exists out of self-sustainment; be it for serving it's needs of financial gain or of holy endowment from saving the souls. Or establishing a power-base of somewhat mindless followers. A man or woman that dies unquestioningly for their god might be asked who made it known as to "God's wishes".
I can't define God. Can not draw a fruitful image to represent that which I do not understand or grasp to any degree. We can give it (He/She) whatever representation we wish, just like carrying a photograph of a person isn't that person but a reminder of whom it is we are wanting in our thoughts. That has been the basis of religion through eons. To draw people to specific sites and claim it holy lands or works. While truly gifted men among us have painted works which illicit strong feelings... to stir our beliefs and give us validation through concrete sight, we want to believe in the power much higher than our own.
Looking into the Book of Enoch, can not help but wonder what works have been excluded for the sake of expediency, of message content or of doubtful origin. Just because it is in an uncommon dialect doesn't make something less valuable if it relays the message as it was intended. And the lines which would have connected all of this together intricately has been lost to periods of history where religion chose to obscure the details to direct focus.
Being able to understand it all would only be for self-enlightenment. There is no desire to become a prophet in a world drowning under so many voices. Voices fueled by greed, lust for power or continued control via the status quo. The book of 1984 by George Orwell speaks of a "Big Brother" to which I liken that God (in all incarnations) has become the "Big Father" to whom we are supposed to grant our undying loyalty without question.
And I beg to differ. Beg to ask that anyone whom has ever raised a child if they do not foster their questioning the very reality in which they exist. That we constantly attempt to motivate our youth to ask the pertinent questions, to dissect all of the information and to grasp that which they see. And movies like The Da Vinci Code bring things to light of which many would prefer to remain hidden.
Various dreams haunt me yet. The lack of understanding only makes it frustrating to know that there is hidden knowledge amongst it's symbolism. I don't seek to understand religions... only it's myriad range of motivation. One has to question if Islam might not be a truer faith than the corrupted tenets/canons passed down through Roman Catholicism.
And since I am not motivated to save or change the world... but to behave in whatever ways are appropriate after gaining a true understanding of why things the way they are.... I am sincerely the poorest student on this matter. I am not fueled by any ambition. And for that, I regret not being able to pass along more value within this very post.
