Title: Siege of the Red Mosque

This didn't seem important at first, but perhaps it will become interesting... The Red Mosque (Islamabad, Pakistan) has been the theater of gun battles and is currently under siege. Apparently they can hold for a month.

Some more info here and here.

I gather that the fanatics who are defending the mosque are attempting to turn Pakistan into a theocracy, like Iran.

I'll keep an eye on that.

I feel for President Musharraf as he is trying his best to keep democracy in the country how long will he last out...

You are kidding, right?

This is the dictator who, with the help of his MQM thugs in Karachi, is responsible for the recent murder of his own people who came to voice their opposition to the suspension of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

You do know that Musharraf came to power through a coup?

By the way, with regard to the topic of this thread, the people in the Mosque are insane.

A bloodbath. That's about what I expected.

At least, the collateral damage was minimal. But this massacre could still have been avoided.
