I recently learned about
the death of the second-last Canadian World War I veteran. Even though I knew nothing about him, it made me feel a little sad, because it reminded me that in five or ten years, there will be no more WWI vets. Most of us here at PnP will probably also live to see the last WWII veterans die, though this will be in quite a bit of time (possibly about 30 or 40 years).
I found in Wiki a list of
surviving WWI vets. As you see, there's only a handful of them left, and every year some of them die. I'll be pretty depressed when the last one leaves us.
