Hi, my name's John. I found this forum in the IF directory, like many other people who joined. Just wanted to find a forum full of intelligent people and discuss/debate with them on topics I've researched on.
I see there's a 9/11 truther here (the guy below me). Well i guess you won't like me much either. haha, because I have very similar views. But I'll try and be "nice" and not go on a rampage.
I'm just here to address things, hopefully get some friendly arguments in, and search for the truth about what's going on in the world right now (especially in the U.S.)... A lot of different news sources and points of view come at one right now, and one does not know what to believe. But one has to believe something, right? I guess common sense is the only way an individual can decide whether what he or she is reading is true or a "conspiracy theory". But, as i've been noticing lately, common sense 'aint that common nowadays, which is really sad in my opinion..
My U.S. History teacher, on the first day of school, picked up the school textbook and said in front of the whole class "This textbook is here to make you think, you are not entitled to believe EVERYTHING that is written in it." And this was in my junior year of high school. He made a good point now that I look back on it. The school textbooks don't mention so much stuff that should have been mentioned... And when I found this out it sparked my interest into researching.
I really don't like politics. But in situations like the ones we have now are important to be informed about. I think the idea of having a republican and a democratic party is stupid, because it's always a battle on who could protect the country better.
Well I hope this all made sense to you, haha.
-John
Welcome.
As I said to the other person, as long as you are here for discussion (which it seems by your post you are ;)) and not here for preaching, there will be little problem.
I hope you enjoy your time here.
Hello and welcome.
Yes, with so many things happening in the world and it seems reports end up with some kind of spin on them to make it favourable for one side (or another). It seems like people have to second, third and even fourth source something to be sure it's valid. Also to make sure that not everyone was bought off! :) Hehehe.
Glad you could join and hope you enjoy yourself here.
