Every year, unexploded
cluster bombs and
landmines kill or gravely wound thousands of innocent people, sometimes several years after the end of the conflict. In Vietnam only, about 300 people (most of which are civilians) die or become handicapped because of those threats each year, even though the war is over for three decades. It would take centuries to remove all those bombs, even if Mankind stopped warring right now (not a likely possibility).
Most western countries have signed international treaties against the use of those abominations, but many others (USA and Israel, for example) didn't do it yet. Shouldn't all "civilized" nations sign those treaties as soon as possible? We already have enough landmines and cluster bombs, and the first step to eliminate them is to stop using them.
