The conservative prime minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, is well known for his opposition for the Kyoto protocol. Recently, the Liberal Party, led by former minister of environment Stéphane Dion, has revealed a few of his anti-Kyoto quotes. It's worth taking a look at.

Here they are.

Needless to say, some people don't care much for him.

Personally, I've never been really swayed by the Kyoto Protocol. While yes, I've read it (which is a lot more than most people who support/oppose it can say, sadly), and yes I've heard many arguments for it, it just really hasn't impacted me in such a way that I've been moved to support it.

That being said, these quotes just go to prove something I've been saying for a while now, we should invade Canada err, nothing.

*cough*

Anyways, lets actually look at the article, shall we?:

QUOTE
Stephen Harper is a climate change denier. But you don't have to take our word for it – take his:

Oh yes, this is going to be unbiased, I can tell already.

Anyways:
As economic policy the Kyoto Accord is a disaster. As environmental policy it is a fraud.”

I'm not sure hes too far off. While its certainly a lot of economic indicators that could vary, all the work I've seen shows that Kyoto's benefit are far overshadowed by its costs.

“No, what I am supportive of is, frankly, not ratifying the Kyoto agreement and not implementing it.”

How, exactly, does that prove he is a "climate change denier? It just proves he opposes Kyoto. Or if you don't fully support Kyoto, you deny climate change?

I could go on, but most are covered by those two points.

Does Kyoto have some possibility of being helpful? Perhaps, probably it does. Is Harper a loon? Yeah, he is. Is this blown out of proportion? Yeah.
