Description: Name a few
Deltasix - March 12, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
What are a few of your favorite bands/artists?
I'll list mine later, I'd like to get a feel for what you all like.
psycholopher - March 16, 2005 03:41 AM (GMT)
I'll go with:
The Beatles, Ben Folds, Frederic Chopin, Coldplay, Miles Davis, Claude Debussy, Elliott Smith, Eminem, Outkast, Radiohead, The Roots, Tribe Called Quest, and Tupac.
agora_admin - March 17, 2005 06:23 AM (GMT)
Miles Davis, Led Zeppelin, 311, Sublime, Coltrane, Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, Rush, Jeff Buckley, Nina Simone, Eric Clapton, Cream, Wilson Pickett, the Roots, and too many more to name.
King'O'Roff - March 17, 2005 09:05 AM (GMT)

- Iron Maiden
- Elivis (obviously)
- Green Day
- Linkin Park
- Bob Marley

Boru - March 21, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
Really I'm more of a mood person.
Billy Joel, Ben Folds, Beatles, Moxy Fruvous, Decemberists, Trans-siberian Orchestra/Savatage, Beethoven, are probably all time favorites and I am almost always in the mood to listen to them.
Second tier would be:
Kanye West, Outkast, Altan (a really good Celtic Band) The Rogues (another good celtic band), Miles Davis, Led Zepplin
The Second Tier are undisputably good, I just don't always want to listen to them.
Deltasix - March 21, 2005 09:23 PM (GMT)
I'm going to have to list mine now.
Led Zepplein
Pink Floyd
Jimi Hendrix
Grateful Dead
The Velvet Underground
The Clash
The Beatles
U2 (their older stuff mostly)
Eric Clapton
Cat Stevens
And a boatload more. I listen to music throughout most of the day, but those are my top picks. And its a bit of everything thing.
To mellow out, I listen to "Dark Side of the Moon" by Floyd, or "The Joshua Tree" by U2.
If I want some nice background music, blues-y I can pop in Jimi Hendrix with his long guitar solo albums.
Cat Stevens for somthing to just have, while the Clash and Zepplein for more uppy beats. Same with the Velvet Underground.
Sure theres a alot more for different moods, but thats my top list ;)
Boru - March 21, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
Heh, I'd forgotten U2, I carry aroudn the Joshua tree and Achtung baby in my traveling CD case.
Wingfoot - March 24, 2005 02:48 PM (GMT)
I'm going to have to go with the following.......
Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Green Day, Rage Against The Machine, TAT, Spunge, Farse, The Coral, Franz Ferdinand, Red Hot Chilly Peppers, Goldfinger, Beach Boys, King Prawn, Bill Bailey, Blink 182, The Darkness, Offlimit
And a whole host of others, like everyone else has said so far, my taste in music is a case of horses for courses. At the moment it's all getting a bit cheerier i.e. Less Than jake or TAT, as the summer weather starts taking effect on me.
Wingfoot
(Rage Against The Machine is thrown in as Battle for LA gets put on in my car on the way to rugby practice - I cannot think of any other band who would psyche me up like they do)
chav hunter - April 7, 2005 07:39 AM (GMT)
Queen, The Boom town Rats, Lost Prophets, The Killers
SilentAlarm - May 21, 2005 08:34 PM (GMT)
Ill have to say
Modest Mouse, Bloc Party, Interpol, U2, Lou Reed, The Killers, Joy Division, Violentte Femmes, The Postal Service, Radiohead and Guided by Voices.
Kevin Beckman - May 22, 2005 05:29 PM (GMT)
The only band that really stays a favorite with me is Metallica. I'm too damn picky and I lose interest rather easily. Right now some of my favorites are:
Metallica (duh)
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band
Megadeth
Van Halen
Green Day
Audioslave
Billy Idol
Deltasix - May 22, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
Yeah, for people who lose intrest in bands, or like a variety of music, I'd say check out Grateful Dead. Folk to Rock and everything in between.
Oh, and if you like Green Day, check out The Clash, which is what Green Day bases most of its "hard rock" music.
Wingfoot - May 22, 2005 10:39 PM (GMT)
The Clash are so awesome, they're just a classic rock band. Love sticking some of their greatest hits along with those done by Thin Lizzy (who I went to go see at Shepperd's Bush back in February, and was truelly star struck)

Arya - June 29, 2005 01:40 PM (GMT)
Majority of the music I listen to consists of rap/hip-hop whose artists and song titles I have no clue about; the songs just play on my local radio station.
Aside from my Hindi music, here are the rock bands that I listen to (since everyone here only listens to guitar music):
Iron Maiden
Rammstein
Powerman 5000
Jimi Hendrix
Red Hot Chili Peppers
KISS
The Doors
And I can't seem to think of anything else...
alcoholicpoet - July 31, 2005 05:35 AM (GMT)

Kirtar - August 4, 2005 02:51 AM (GMT)
Ho boy.
This would be a very loooong list.
I'll go ahead and say that I love classic rock. Just about any kind of classic rock is something I like, so I'll just name a few favorite bands and you can assume I like the rest as well.
--Pink Floyd
--U2 (Back in the Joshua Tree days)
--Bob Dylan
--Led Zeppelin
And as I keep thinking about it, haha, I have too many favorite classic rock bands, so I'll stop right here and sadly leave out everything else I love.
As for modern rock (too much to honestly post, so this is limited too):
--Jack Johnson
--Dispatch
--Coldplay
--Matchbox Twenty
--The Killers
--The Gorillaz
And then comes everything else. I've always liked rap a little bit, but it's only been recently that I've really started to like some of it. Mind you, I can't stand R&B, it has to be hardcore rap.
--2pac
--Tech N9ne
--Outkast
--Everlast
(and even then, this isn't even near the end of the list.. I'd just like this post to be somewhat readable)
RancerDS - August 16, 2005 04:35 PM (GMT)

Boru - December 13, 2005 06:04 AM (GMT)
Soulwax where are you from?
I studied for a year in Belgium, so I'm slightly intrigued by the fact you have Deus listed there :)

I'll try.
Bit busy with exams at the moment.

Age of Reason - February 22, 2006 10:59 PM (GMT)
A Perfect Circle
Tool
Nirvana
Pink Floyd
The Doors
Pearl Jam
Foo Fighters
Smashing Pumpkins
Chevelle
Rage Against the Machine
....many more
I also enjoy classical music from the greats of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, as well as musical scores from movies (Pirates of the Carribean, anything John Williams, King Kong). For some reason, I really enjoy slow, depressing, melancholy classical music. Perhaps that's why I enjoy Beethoven the most out of this type of music. If anyone with more knowledge in this area would like to let me know about some interesting classical music to check out, I would be happily open to suggestions.
Favorite five albums, in no order...
Nirvana - Nevermind
Pearl Jam - Ten
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Tool - Lateralus
A Perfect Circle- The Thirteenth Step
Cain & Abel - February 27, 2006 09:07 PM (GMT)
Shinedown, Sanctus Real, Smalltown Poets, The Mars Volta, Primus, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, The Darkness, The White Stripes, The Hives, Thousand Foot Krutch, Five Iron Frenzy, Green Day.
Here's my top 5 albums:
Get Behind Me, Satan (with the bonus track) - The White Stripes
One Way Ticket to Hell and Back - The Darkness
Nevermind - Nirvana
De-Loused in the Comatorium - The Mars Volta
The Colour and Shape - Foo Fighters
With all due respect,
~~~Mr. Cain and Mr. Abel
Never gave them a listen yet, to be honest.
Deltasix - March 15, 2006 09:27 PM (GMT)
Judging by your list, alot of which I agree with, I'd highly recommend that you do. I do enjoy their sound quite a bit, and over 40 years.....they have alot of different styles ;)
Sorry to bring this topic back after several weeks of sleep, but I just felt the urge to say that my favorite bands are Green Day and Linkin Park (can't decide between those). I enjoy the Beatles too.
