Title: Nationstates
Description: Political Game

Deltasix - May 22, 2006 05:35 PM (GMT)
http://www.nationstates.net/

You've probably heard of it. Anyone care to start (or join) a board version of it? Its meant to be a game in humor and fun, its not meant to be taken seriously, but it would be a bit of friendly "compitition" between us.

If you are interested, please post here, and I'll start up our region.

Matt C. - May 27, 2006 02:14 AM (GMT)
Completely interested, but we must have a good system of how the main aspects of society work.

Obviously the two most important things that are variables are military and economy.

Social issues should play less of a role.

I can help with ideas since I have created similar games in the past other places.

Deltasix - May 27, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
Its already a set up system. And its casual play, not strict real gov't things. You're more likely to have issues from nudists demanding public nudity be a right than you are to have an issue about tax allocation funding.

Its a causal fun laid back game, not a real nation building sim.

Matt C. - May 27, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
Well whatever, I will be in.

But nobody else seems eager.

Deltasix - May 27, 2006 02:46 AM (GMT)
Well, if we can get 2 more people or so, I'll make a "PnP Island Sector"

For anyone else, its takes abotu 5 mins a day, and can be quite comical.

Matt C. - May 27, 2006 03:02 AM (GMT)
I also like this game a lot:

I like it a lot better than Jennifer Government stuff.

It gives you military, economic, and social options.

Are you registered there? You should....

Here's my country after 1 day....

Deltasix - May 27, 2006 03:09 AM (GMT)
Looks interesting, but I think I'll stick to this one, just for ease of use. That one probably is better and all, but I'm going to be off most of next week and don't want to start somthing new. ;)

RancerDS - May 27, 2006 06:08 AM (GMT)
I might be interested. What's up? Everyone playing one nation or are we playing nations within an organization?

Deltasix - May 27, 2006 01:16 PM (GMT)
We just make things up. Here is mine:
http://www.nationstates.net/his_majesty_delta

jammyd01 - May 27, 2006 01:36 PM (GMT)
ive made one. can't remember it though. it wasn't very good

Deltasix - May 27, 2006 02:09 PM (GMT)
You can make another one if you want to join in on our game here.

Intifada - May 27, 2006 04:37 PM (GMT)
I'll join when I have time.

Not a bad looking nationsim, from a quick glance. Thanks for the link!

Added in Edit: Joined in on NationStates. Country name is Valdina and I'd moved it to the same region as yours Delta. Not sure it's worth creating a new region for just two players though.

Added in 2nd Edit: Link to my nation is http://www.nationstates.net/valdina

Deltasix - June 5, 2006 03:04 AM (GMT)
Anyone interested sign up there and PM/post the link to their "nation."

For some reason, in the last few days, crime has gotten worse and my country sounds the worst it has ever so far......

Deltasix - June 7, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
Looks good, if we can get just a few more people (prehaps 2?) I'll start a PnP section of the world.

Nevin - June 7, 2006 06:14 PM (GMT)
My nation is the Community of Climenhaga: http://www.nationstates.net/climenhaga

Deltasix - June 7, 2006 07:02 PM (GMT)
Actually, to display your nation, you have to go to the link at the bottom of the page and use the link called "show your nation"

1 more taker (at least)

Anyone?

Intifada - June 7, 2006 08:11 PM (GMT)

Deltasix - June 7, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
Awesome, everyone who has joined move to this group:
Politics and Prose

To move, I think the best way is to go to your region's main page and look for where it says "Tried of life in [insert region's name]? Then move to a new region."

Click the link and search for "Politics and Prose."
Or try this link, I'm not sure it will work: http://www.nationstates.net/79896/page=dis...itics_and_prose

Deltasix - June 8, 2006 03:39 PM (GMT)
Thus far, we have:

Intifada's nation
Nevin's nation
Delta's nation
Rancer's nation
Kevin's nation

Everyone else, make your way on over. For those who havn't signed up, do so!

Kevin Beckman - June 11, 2006 04:16 AM (GMT)

Whats your nation in Nationstates?

I'm not telling ya. :D

I might tell you one day, though. But right now I don't feel like it.

But I try to create the most liberal and the most socialist nation possible. :)

Deltasix - June 11, 2006 10:00 PM (GMT)
I've got that. Anyways, if you want, join up out region. Its funner playing in little regions where you know one another as opposed to large mega-regions.

Che Guevara - June 12, 2006 02:06 AM (GMT)
There are just too many people playing this game... I had trouble only finding a valid country name.

But at least, this game doesn't take too much of your time. A few minutes a day...

Deltasix - June 12, 2006 02:29 AM (GMT)
Aye, it took me...eh, not that long to find my name. But its cause it is weird.

Anyways, go ahead and look up our region if you'd like, it seems to be a leftist hot-spot. ^_^

Deltasix - June 13, 2006 11:28 PM (GMT)
Would you guys be interested in a more active role in this game? As in, discussion of topics/resolutions here?

blizzard - June 19, 2006 09:52 PM (GMT)
I'm playing at cybernations.net because I'm just that cool.

Deltasix - June 26, 2006 08:03 PM (GMT)

Current Status of our nations:

Deltasix's Nation:

QUOTE
The Protectorate of His Majesty Delta
UN Category: Left-Leaning College State
Civil Rights: World Benchmark
Economy: Strong
Political Freedoms: Average

UN Delegate

The Protectorate of His Majesty Delta is a huge, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, hard-working population of 226 million enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 72%, and even higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Gambling and Information Technology.

Fur coats have become the latest fashion trend, the police force is on a recruitment drive, citizens are encouraged to report friends, family members or co-workers who seem depressed to the government for "counselling", and the government has undertaken a massive education and health program to combat VODAIS. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. His Majesty Delta's national animal is the goat and its currency is the Dollar.

Rancer's Nation

QUOTE
The Free Land of Valdina
UN Category: Liberal Democratic Socialists
Civil Rights: Very Good
Economy: Developing
Political Freedoms: Superb

The Free Land of Valdina is a very large, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 158 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 51%, and even higher for the wealthy. A small private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Door-to-door Insurance Sales and Beef-Based Agriculture.

Citizens are allowed to rise or fall based on their own merits, the government extracts trade concessions from poor nations in exchange for humanitarian aid, the institution of marriage is held sacred and strictly enforced, and prime commercial land is being swamped with archaeological teams. Crime is well under control, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Valdina's national animal is the chicken hawk, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dushka.

QUOTE
The Republic of Beckministan
UN Category: Civil Rights Lovefest
Civil Rights: Superb
Economy: Good
Political Freedoms: Superb

The Republic of Beckministan is a very large, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 94 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 22%. A large private sector is led by the Gambling, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Furniture Restoration industries.

Education and welfare spending are on the rise, citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, Beckministan's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, and scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes. Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Beckministan's national animal is the robin and its currency is the dung.

Nevin's Nation

QUOTE
The Community of Climenhaga
UN Category: Civil Rights Lovefest
Civil Rights: Superb
Economy: Very Strong
Political Freedoms: Excellent

The Community of Climenhaga is a very large, socially progressive nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 131 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The large government devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 26%, but much higher for the wealthy. A robust private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Furniture Restoration and Book Publishing.

Citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, skateparks can be found in every city, 'The Anti-Government Hour' is a popular programme on many of Climenhaga's radio stations, and pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Climenhaga's national animal is the mosquito, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

Intifada's Nation

QUOTE
The Republic of Hugo R Chavez Frias
UN Category:Scandinavian Liberal Paradise
Civil Rights: World Benchmark
Economy: Reasonable
Political Freedoms: Average

The Republic of Hugo R Chavez Frias is a very large, socially progressive nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate population of 113 million enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Social Welfare, although Education and Healthcare are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 64%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Uranium Mining.

Guerrillas are considered a delicacy, people reciting Shakespeare have become a common sight, abortions are routinely performed in Hugo R Chavez Frias's hospitals, and scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes. Crime is well under control. Hugo R Chavez Frias's national animal is the guerrilla, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the coin.

The Empire of Essem
UN Category: Civil Rights Lovefest
Civil Rights: Superb
Economy: Strong
Political Freedoms: Widely Abused

The Empire of Essem is a massive, devout nation, remarkable for its burgeoning gerbil population. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.751 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The medium-sized, corrupt, liberal government concentrates mainly on Education, although Healthcare and Social Equality are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 3%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Students in Essem's schools rarely attend their classes, crowds of flag-burning protesters tend to accidentally become crowds of burning protesters, education and welfare spending are on the rise, and citizens are frequently held up at gunpoint by their local pizza delivery boys. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Essem's national animal is the gerbil, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the dollar.

Crime is totally unknown. The Ilemi Triangle's national animal is the cattle, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Hela.

The one problem with nationstates that I have is that it assumes the only type of anarchy is so-called "anarcho-capitalism". Left and post-left anarchy are in reality the most dominant trends. Whatever, I guess my nomadic, anarchic people still have some sort of government watching them.

Yeah, like I told you before, its not really a true nation sim. More a laid back type thing. I agree, there are alot of flaws, but its funny and takes a few minutes to do each day. Also, you can get two questions per day if you'd like, go to settings and change it.
